Barajas Airport T4

Madrid
Year:
2002
Architect:
D. Richard Rogers. Estudio Lamela.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

The way the different companies coordinated the tasks for this work was truly remarkable. Although we are talking about a large job considering the size of the elements, the manufacture and installation of the skylights was dynamic, as they were all the same. We built 464 circular skylights with a 6 m diameter, 112 oval skylights measuring 13 x 9 m, 40 glass jet bridges and 4000 m2 of shop windows.

The natural light coming in through the skylights to light the interior provides travellers with a sense of brightness and space.

CONTEXT

Terminal 4 in Madrid Barajas Airport is one of the most important airports in the world. Flights from America on their way to the old continent stop at this airport for their connections. It is a showcase worldwide.
